Since ancient times, roses have been and remain one of the most popular plants for ornamental gardening. The variety of shapes, colors, and scents makes it an indispensable element of floral arrangements. One of the factors that significantly affects the decorative appeal of roses is plants damage by diseases and pests. Research has shown that the main diseases of floribunda roses that cause the most damage to their decorative qualities are black spot (Marssonina rosae (Lib.) Died.), powdery mildew (Sphaerotheca pannosa var. rosae Woron.), downy mildew (Pseudoperonospora sparsa (Berk.) Jacz.), and rose rust (Phragmidium distiflorum (Tode) Sames). It was determined that the Pomponella variety showed the highest resistance to disease pathogens. Plants of this variety were only occasionally affected by black spot, the intensity of which did not exceed 4 %. At the same time, the intensity of disease development in plants of the Goldelse variety reached 64 %, which led to premature leaf fall. Among the ten varieties of floribunda roses studied, only one variety, Carmagnola, was affected by rose rust. Signs of powdery mildew and downy mildew were also observed in only one variety, Arthur Bell, with disease development intensity of 25 % and 17 %, respectively. It has been determined that the main pests of roses are the rose sawfly (Arge rosae L.), green rose aphid (Macrosiphum rosae L.), common spider mite (Tetranychus urticae Koch), rose leaf roller (Archips rosana L.), thrips (Thrips spp.), and rose chafer beetle (Cetonia aurata L.). The green rose aphid and rose leaf roller were the most numerous and caused significant damage to plants. It has been determined that treating plants with insecticides is an effective way to protect roses from pests. The most effective preparations are the insecticides «Engio 247 SC» and «Aktara 25 WG», with a pest mortality rate of up to 97.8 %.
